2.          Each squad will have two and one half minutes to demonstrate its cheerleading style and expertise.  Squads will enter the competition area’s matted surface and set up in front of the judges with at least one foot on the ground.  Timing will begin with the first movement, voice, or first note of music, whichever comes first.

3.          Cheerleading routines must include cheers, sidelines and cheerleading skills.  If a squad uses music in their presentation, the musical portion of the routine must not exceed one minute and fifteen seconds.

4.          FIVE points will be deducted if a squad exceeds the time limits in the routine and/or musical portion.

5.          Safety violations will not result in the disqualification of a squad BUT will result in a deduction of 10 points per judge per violation.

6.          In the event the presentation of any squad must be interrupted because of the failure of the competition equipment, facilities, etc. the squad will be allowed to present their routine from the place in the routine where the interruption occurred.  If the interruption occurs as a result of the failure of the squads own equipment and /or music operator, the squad must either continue the presentation or withdraw from the competition.  IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO BRING AN EXTRA BACKUP TAPE/CD.

7.          The SCCCA will provide a tape / cd player and sound system with microphone at the event.

8.          In the event that any injury causes the presentation of a team to be interrupted, the squad must either continue the presentation or withdraw from the competition.  THE COMPETITION STAFF RESERVES THE RIGHT TO STOP THE PRESENTATION DUE TO INJURY.

9.          Cheerleaders must wear the appropriate uniform of their respective school.

10.      Pom-Pons, signs and megaphones are the only equipment that will be allowed during competition.  Trampolines, mini-tramps, and batons may not be used.

11.      A mascot may appear with the squad, however, he/she may not stunt, spot, tumble or distract from the squad’s performance.

12.     Competition will be held on a 42 x 42 regulation size competition floor.  For safety reasons, all parts of the routine must be performed on the mat.  A five point penalty will be assessed each time someone steps off the mat.  (10 point maximum)

13.       Spotters and a trainer will be provided by SCCCA.

14.       The SCCCA will provide qualified judges and two safety judges.

16.       Squads must state on their application whether they intend to be classified as ALL-GIRL or CO-ED.  If a squad has one boy, they may elect to compete as All Girl or Co-Ed.  However, if a squad has more than one boy, they must be classified as Co-Ed.

17.       THERE WILL BE NO CHANGING OF THE STATUS AFTER A SQUAD ARRIVES AT THE COMPETITION.

18.      SAFETY GUIDELINES will be those of the National Federation Spirit Rules Book.  Any Safety Violations will result in a deduction of 10 points per judge.

19.       If only one school is represented in a division, that school will be required to compete against a standing score of 210 to receive a first place trophy.
